Many people think that yoga is just stretching. But while stretching is certainly involved, yoga is really about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. This is done through the performance of poses or postures, each of which has specific physical benefits. Yoga is a lot harder than it looks and the benefits of yoga are much more than just physical. As you practice yoga, you'll see that it can transform not only your body, but your mind and spirit.
I have been a physical fitness enthusiast for years, and enjoyed spinning, body pump, tae bo and rock climbing. They were a lot of fun, but I found yoga produced greater results. The style I practice is ashtanga yoga, which is a very vigorous & athletic practice, and I have studied with many world class ashtanga instructors.
My classes are designed to stretch, strengthen and tone the body, and you'll be able to experience the many benefits of yoga including increased flexibility and stress reduction while calming and focusing the mind. So try yoga - I look forward to seeing you in class!
